DON KARDONG PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

Rehabilitation project in Spokane’s University District

The Don Kardong Bridge project was looking to revamp the existing bridge; adding safety, blending with the scenery, and creating a new design. INW Precast’s concrete slabs were used in the bridge decks and overlooks, ensuring safety for pedestrians and contributing to a sleek, simplistic look.

PROJECT PURPOSE

The City of Spokane wanted to accomplish a few things with the bridge rehabilitaion; increase pedestrian and bicycle safety, preserve and enhance Centennial Trail route, and enhance the visual connection to the surrounding landscape.

Our Contribution

Inland Northwest Precast installed 385 linear feet of precast deck panels and 3 precast overlooks. The deck panels were staged by Inland Northwest Precast onsite for an expedited installation. The project needed to be completed by a certain date, and the precast panels allowed the project to finish on time. The precise locations of the steel embeds that were cast into the concrete made for an easy installation of the bridge railings.
